Mardi Gras
Happy Mardi Gras!
Well, technically it should be belated since it was on tuesday. I think.
You know what? Since we don't celebrate Mardi Gras, but we do celebrate Ching Gay, the people on those floats should throw beads off them! This way we'd get some Mardi Gras too, minus the flashing.
Oh, and the girls got me some table trivia for my birthday, so for the next few days I'll kill you with them not-so-funny ones. Some were so cold I actually got frost bite.
What did mother broom say to baby broom? Its time to sweep.

Best Belated Birthday ever
Had the belated b'day at Bre's dad's restaurent, Pizza al Taglio at the Central Mall. LOVED the pizzas. Thin crust FTW! But I loved the company I had wayyyyyyy more :) thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!! <3
And though I know I
don't have to explain myself to anyone, I want to say that while some experiences make me look like a byotch (Term credited to
Lana Weinberger), I don't necessarily regret them, cuz without them I wouldn't grow up, and wouldn't have the experiences that I now have.

It was cool that Leo and Phil came along. Cheers!

My beary sunny sunflower. hah!

Carrying 8 balloons and walking through Clarke Quay is no joke.

My card, "fish lips" shirt and the deflated spongebob balloon. Now its draped over my chair.

Technically I got this cake from the Net Youth on my actual birthday. But its so cute I had to post it up :)

Schneebly
I AM SO GONNA WATCH THE AMAZING RACE.
I cannot believe that Mike White, who wrote, and plays Ned Schneebly in School of Rock is teaming up with his dad. The moment I saw his face my eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets. What in the world is a successful writer/actor doing on a reality show?!
Oh oh, and yesterday I got my hands on the
final PD 10. Psych! I'll stay up and finish that book after my exams. Speaking of which, I can't stop thinking about. The end, I mean. Plus my vacay on the 28th.

Tara's Do This, Not That! 20 Green Tips
I love browsing through Tara's Blog, its always full of stuff I'll probably never get to experience in my life. I came across her "green" post and thought it was super! Of course, its more that just the usual "USE RECYCLABLE GROCERY BAGS!" rant (Although that's ultra important too). Checkit:
The Do This and Not That Green List a.k.a. the greener of two evils:
1. Use rechargeable batteries instead of single-use or alkaline batteries--good for your wallet and the environment (read more at ecomii.com)
2. Use dimmable lights instead of regular light switches--when you dim a light, you lower the amount of energy flowing to that light bulb (read more at ecomii.com)
3. Use cloth napkins instead of paper – looks better, feels better and can go in the laundry with your other stuff. Always get darker colors so you can use them longer (theveggiequeen.com)
4. Use natural table décor instead of buying something new for each occasion. Take your kids out for a walk. Pick up all sorts of natural items—leaves, rocks, pinecones. Come home and arrange in glasses. (CelebrateGreen.net)
5. Buy local produce instead of items that need to be shipped from afar
6. Buy recycled golf balls and you can reduce the demand and production of new balls plus you save up to 50% on the price (LostGolfBalls.com)
7. Download music online instead of buying music on CDs (greenwala.com).
8. Wash clothes in cold water with detergent formulated for cold water washing. You'll save carbon emissions and money by not using heated water (greenwala.com)
9. Pack your child’s lunch in reusable containers instead of using a disposable paper bag and plastic baggies each school day (americasgreenestschool.com.)
10. Eat a vegetarian meal once a week instead of meat. A vegetarian meal requires significantly less greenhouse gas emissions to produce, and is a healthy alternative to add to your diet (OneMillionActsofGreen.com)
11. Unplug your cell phone charger when phone isn’t charging (ecostoreusa.com)
12. Use “organic” eco-friendly skin care products instead of skin care products with man-made chemicals that deposit harmful toxic residue in your body and the environment (Ungenita.com)
13. Go for a walk outside instead of on a treadmill (The Non-Consumer Advocate)
14. When brushing teeth. Wet the toothbrush with a small trickle of water, and then turn the water off! Turn it back on to rinse the toothpaste off the brush at the end. A family of four could save hundreds of gallons every month just from this simple trick and not keeping the water running (frugalfun.com)
15. Park your car and go into a fast food restaurant or bank instead of sitting with your car idling in the drive through line (cleanairmakemore.com)
16. Replace an old-style picture tube TV or projection TV with a new flat-screen HDTV plasma that is Energy Star rated. You can cut your TV energy use by a third and get better picture quality, a sexy flat screen, and a bigger picture too (plasmadisplaycoalition.org)
17. Use an Energy-Star dishwasher rather than handwash your dishes. By using an approved dishwasher, you use half as much energy as washing by hand, and use nearly 5,000 gallons less water per year, compared to washing dishes by hand (
Whirlpool)
18. Don’t use disposable coffee or tea stirrers, instead pour milk and sugar in first and then add your drink. And even better, use a mug instead of a disposable cup (
GradeGuru.com)
19. Light candles, open windows instead of using canned air freshener (
nrdc.org)
20. Read blogs and online news sites instead of newspapers!

Lassie Wars
So the first thing that skippylass1 did when she saw skippylass2 was trip and fall on the spiral stairs at the atrium that leads to the library. Best opening
ever.
Anywho, LOVED the walk walks and movie! And yapping! And exchanging Brunei money for Sing dollar! MUAHAHAHA.

busrides and fringe
I guess its
the reason why people read and write blogs- for all sorts of experiences; and I've got another weird one again- after Randon Guy. I dare say today's is weirder.
Mid-dozing through my 153 bus ride, this indian school boy sat beside me on the last row of the bus. Cracking one eye open, I shifted one seat away cuz i had no idea why he was sitting so close to me when there were so many other empty seats.
After dozing for another 10 minutes, i peeked and saw that he was
still staring at me. Like
SOLER, facing me squarely and just staring. Heck, I closed my eyes again.
Fine, I gave up dozing. I turned and looked at the kid.
"..." something inaudible he said, I probably couldnt hear him due to the bus' engine and the semi freaked-outness/curiosity on my part.
And outta the blule, he reached out and just touched my fringe. Ok touch is an understatement. More like clamping my fringe between his fingers and pseudo picking lint out of my hair.
"Uh...is there something wrong with my fringe?" I ask, now not knowing what to do/think/say.
"I really like your fringe. How to make my fringe like yours?" Asks the little boy.
"Oh. just keep it longer and sweep it to the side." I reply, after looking at his short crop.
"Oh..ok. Its very nice." kid reiterates. Uh..ok.
After staring out the window and checking my stuff, (I thought he picked my pockets or bag while I was asleep) I notice he's still staring at me. Freaky please! He's gonna pass his
SOLER for sure if he ever decides to be a counsellor in the future.
Again, and for many times subsequently, the kid is touching my hair. So what else to do but engage him in convosation to keep his mind on something else?
So yak yak yak, I find out he's 11, from Beatty Sec.
Apparently our convo was not long enough for him to quit fiddling with my fringe. Good thing my stop arrived sooner than expected. HAHAHA I must say I didn't find this weird exchange too shudder worthy. It just made me wonder
again, like with Random Guy, if they were paid to do some punk'd/candid camera action.
And so Smarti won the day

Isaac and Rebekah
Just the other day while we were having family devotion, dad read the passage about how Abraham made his servant swear that he'd find a wife for Abraham's son Isaac. And yadda yadda, how the servant travelled far and wide, and how God told the servant that the first lady to appear and offer him some water to drink would be Isaac's wife. So when he got to the well, the servant first spotted Rebekah and asked her for a drink and she not only obliged, but offered to water all his camels as well.
Then dad was saying how a camel needs wayyyy many gallons (I can't rmb) of water to quench its thirst, and there were many (again i can't rmb) camels. And how Rebekah must be so fit and strong to give water to all of them, walking back and forth from the well. So it was here that dad figured Rebekah must be a "tomboy-super strength girl", albeit a beautiful one, since she did all the water hospitalities. And he figured, back in those times, Rebekah probably got teased for her personality by all the other girlie girls and stuff. You know, not fitting in cuz she probably wasn't like the
rest of them.
But it was her personality and character that eventually led to the rest of history in the Bible, so God has a hand in everything; even how you turn out personality/physically/character wise.
I was tempted to blog about other trivial, rather shudder-worthy stuff, but meh, its always better to reflect on the good stuff and be insightful rather than just yap for self satisfaction. Anyway I already emailed skippylass the shudder-worthy stuff so HAHAHA. Had to get it off my chest.

Things that go bump
Argh. This is killing me. I can hear this phantom thing (Oh God please don't let it be a lizard or night owl or rat that can climb vertically up 10 floors) making occasional noises in my kitchen. How am I gonna get my supper and wash up?! Crud.
I can't concentrate on my FCOPE. sigh.
Sooner would be better than later
