Wayne's World
No,im not talking about the movie. Altho it sure made me laugh a whole lot. I'm talking about this self-help, motivational speaker, Dr Waynr Dyer who's apparently helped inspire loads of people.
He's quite the smart dude, i'd say.
Something interesting i found out: Dyer said research has showed that serotonin, a neurotransmitter in our brain which is also a chemical that makes us feel good, increases when we help others. Here's the cool part: the serotonin not only increases in the person who's rendered help, but also in the recepient, amd those surrounding who've observed the act. Talk about passing it on eh?
He's also said that it's important to be thankful for every minute thing in life. Just being in a state of constant thankfulness. Like be thankful for the air around us, water, food (you get the idea). Cuz we'd just be like dead without them lifesavers. And before he evens get to pee after he wakes up, he always does something nice for his family. To which ellen said, "But I bet they'd like you to go pee first."
He's known for his impartiality towards religions and the good thing is that he encourages us to be God-like. Whichever God we worship.
"My belief is that the truth is a truth until you organize it, and then becomes a lie. I don't think that Jesus was teaching Christianity, Jesus was teaching kindness, love, concern, and peace. What I tell people is don't be Christian, be Christ like. Don't be Buddhist, be Buddha like." Yeah, I know. Here's my problem. I just don't agree with the way he labels his tips. Being Christ like or Buddha like altogether spells our religions, so how can we
not be part of our religion?
"Generally people are raised to obey the customs and practices of that religion without question. These are customs and expectations from outside the person and do not fit my definition of spiritual." - Yeah, well, don't make us sound like Stepford Wives. Dyer's teachings caused some controversy back in the States, but I think he's a great guy spreading love and compassion in our pretty messed up world, so kudos to him for that. I guess i'll just nit pick the good stuff he talks about which I also know is expected outta me and get crumpin' baby!
