yakyakyak.Nepal!!Part2

So..the remaining half of saturday was happy. Lets leave it at that. We had lunch at the villager's house; the one with the safari backdrop, and from there which was wayyy up higher than the church, we walked the whole way down. And i didnt fall at all! that, ladies and gentlemen, was a great GREAT accomplishment coonsidering my frictionless-soleless shoes. And it was steep and slippery. But this really cool young kid was piggyback riding his lil brother and he put the lil dude down on the ground and both of 'em went down the slope sooo fast! like whoah. And we all looked like elephants wearing tutu's trotting down, gingerly taking each step and me making weird sounds like "whoa!" and "ah!". well excuse me, ladies; that wasnt intentional. So after that, we drove to Kathmandu's Aloha Inn, which was worlds better than the Gorkha "hotel". They had cable tv too, and me and sharon were instantly hooked on disney channel. whoosh!
That night, saturday night, we had tandoori chicken and naan. It was the my first time tasting tandoori, and i dare say, it was the best. The naan was so fluffy and full of flavor, sharon couldnt stop chowing those down. Plus, the vege was really fresh too. Like wayy more wholesome than Singapore's.

Sunday morning, we went to the Australian cafe uncle boonann was boasting about. like how good and new and great it was. Little did we know it was to be our hotspot for the next few days since it was only a stone's throw away from the Inn. The cafe was called the Red Dingo cafe, and outta all the dull white and grey and neutral coloured colored buildings, this yellow, orange and red masterpiece stood out. The setting was awesome, the food, phenomenal. It was sooo good and different from all the dhaal we were eating, it felt like we were back in Singapore. The customers were mainly caucasians and tourists. Nil locals. Cept for those we brought in, like Pastor Rinzi and Pastor Sam. We had like a total of 3 breakfasts and one dinner there. The owners, which i prefer to call hosts since they were so hospitable, were really sweet, they kept popping into the small room we were seated in and checking on us and the food, and the waiters were ultra helpful too. I cannot praise the Red Dingo enough because of the high quality food and service we received. If Shirley or Sturt Forbers see this, please, i am dying to expand your cafe and bring it to Singapore! Just wait for me to grow up and earn a lil cappital first yea. And im not joking. I'm serious! the food was good, and the prices were so affordable. Its like a $20 steak going for only $12 there. And the tastes were unique and fresh. Ok enough of my food empire, in the end we bought their T-shirts and used them as our team shirts from our nepal trip.

After that, we headed off to the Golgotha church that was Pastor Sam's church in the city. They had their own band there which was cool, and Pastor Sam's son was the drummer. But their drumset seriously needed some help. The cymbal was like half gone, cracked and all, but they had no choice, they still had to use it. We sang songs, they danced, there was a few special items like english praise songs, traditional dance and Vinitha the tambourinist danced while the drummer rapped etc. We did the usual, taught them songs, they also taught us songs, we did the skit, we played more games with them like the extreme game (widest smile!) and used their belingings to form the longest line. (the girls won of course, what with their sari scarfs and all. But the guys came up really close) After that we had like a meeting with the youth committee and shared ideas. At night we walked to the New Creation orphanage which was also Nazarene church and Pastor Rinzi's house and Lydia and I had a ball with the kids. They were soooooo adorable! Singing for us, while we helped them with their school work, it was endearing. Very sweet. Take it from someone who has no maternal instincts. Esther was quite attached to me afterwards. So clingy and cute. Sigh. Oh we also played Jesus says with them and the hankerchief game. That night during dinner i had fever -.- It was pretty bad.

That night i couldnt sleep with the fever and all. But a hardcore shopper never caves in! So yes, i braved my illness and went shopping with the gang at the tourist area. Upon getting out of the cab, i almost vomitted. So i sat and waited while the rest went to exchange some cash for the shoppin joyride. I got lost in the way the incense smoke curled up and faded away into nothingness and the smell was kinda nice. But boonann didnt like it.haha!

so off we went into dagger shops, pashmina shawls, recycled paper shops, accessories shops yadda yadda yadda. After a small snack i took a cab with boonann back to the hotel 1st cuz i was getting real sick. The cab ride was supposed to be only half an hour or less, but we had to drive past the UN and there were protests going on. The whole Tibet hoohah. The young people were the main protesters, holding up signs like "stop killing in Tibet" and "red devils go back home" It was sooooo exciting watching the protests which boonann said was considered mild. I concurred. No violence, but the police threw some teargas just to be safe. So we had to detour, during which the tire punctured. So while the tire was being changed, there was this whole commotion outside with this young female protestor crying. At first i thought she was overcome with gung ho emotion or something, but i took a closer look and i saw this red bruise in her cheek. Turns out she was one of the few beaten by police. It was quite a peaceful protest, i wonder how in the world did she earn that bruise?! So anyway, eventually i reached the inn and rested in the comfort of disney channel. oh yea~

We had dinner at RD and i LOVED the cajun chicken and pumpkin soup. I especially loved the fact that soup was served in one of those nice white plates and not in a bowl for once. Went back, packed our bags and bedtime! we managed to catch tyra and TMZ on Dubai One, this English channel. The channels there were pretty good. Next morning, we had our final breakfast (pancakes with fruit) and off to the airport. It was so hilarious. The checks for departure were really stringent. There was a total of 3 body checks (yes, grope galore), and durin the bag scan, the police dude detained me cuz he confused my bag with boonanns. He was all "you have dagger in bag?" And i kept going " No, i never buy dagger. Isit this instead?" and i'd take out every metal item in my bag i could think of. Sigh. I was so frustrated over the time i was wasting, i just gave them my bag and let them check. I was so pissed i wanted to laugh. like hysterically. The police were puzzled too cuz they couldnt find any metal item of danger but the scan clearly showed something. In the end it was boonann's swiss knife. And they confiscated it. Poor thing. What a waste! So off we went into the airplane. Silkair's food was mediocre, i ordered white wine and apple and orange juice and heaps of water. The air is sooo dry in the airplane, it drove me nuts. So ladeedah, 5 hours flew past. Literally.
And finally, touchdown! Welcome back to hectic Singapore. I missed Nepal already. So slow and relaxing, sigh. Just like NZ. I wanna retire to a relaxing country next time. It'll do me heart some good. So, i learnt theres this new way you can check yourself into Singapore, no need to let those people inspect your passport and all, so i went ahead. All i had to do was scan my passport and my thumbprint 3 times, but somehow i screwed up and i held up the line -.-
Then i got called aside (again!) and i was like going in my head "please PLEASE let me through so i can start on my DFS shopping!"
After a few intense seconds of getting stared at by the inspector, he said "ok" and i was good to go! I couldn't find any nice perfume for dad so all i purchased were absolut and baileys. And for those who bothered to read this horrid long post and are watering at those 2 brands, NO I WILL NOT SHARE MY LIQUOR! its for my family only! Step off! I cant bring liquor outta my house anyway. I think. And our families were all anxiously waiting for us outside so we met up and my family plus Lydia's had dinner at chomp chomp. Talk about local immersion.
Thus ends the 2nd and last part of my Nepal adventures, and now, im glad to say, im not losing my hearing (thank you God) but im down with bronchitis. no more fever though.

olay!~ Lets drive though the clouds and pig out and zone out in front of the tv again!
